Second Qualifying Round Round Up (Tuesday, 20th July)

Omonia Breeze To Third Qualifying Round

Cypriot champions AC Omonia are through to the third qualifying round after defeating Macedonian Champions Renova 2-0 tonight, and going through 5-0 on aggregate. Aloneftis opened the scoring for the Cypriot side on 15 minutes and not too long after the opener, Leandro doubled the lead on 24 minutes. Omonia will face Salzburg in the third qualifying round.

Sheriff Progress Despite Defeat

Sheriff Tiraspol have progressed to the third qualifying round where they will face the winners of Dinamo Zagreb v FC Koper tie. Vila put the Albanian side in the lead on 19 minutes, but Dinamo Tirana were unable to add to their lead and were narrowly defeated 3-2 on aggregate.

Salzburg Ease Into Next Round Despite Minor Setback

HB Torshavn put in an admirable performance against Austrian Champions Salzburg, but crashed out to a heavy 5-1 aggregate scoreline. Samuelsen scored on 73 minutes to give HB the lead, but it wasn't enough to win the tie!

Dinamo Zagreb Scrape Through

NK Koper of Slovenia put in a stellar performance against Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb. A 3-0 result on the night left Zagreb sweating as the Slovenian champions were just one goal shy of progression, and providing one of the biggest shocks of the round. Zagreb will be very disappointed with their performance but will be relieved after their first leg result was enough to see them through, despite conceding an away goal. NK Koper will exit the tournament with their heads held high. The goalscorers for NK Koper were Handanagic on 11 minutes, Guberac on 54 minutes and a penalty from Brulc on 78 minutes.
